People have been bathing in Baden for as long as this city has existed. Bathing in the hot springs is actually the reason for the existence of this Aargau place and the element of water is the starting point for all other important changes that are so prototypical for social developments in Switzerland.
With their decelerated festival «Learning from Baden», Isabelle Meiffert and Mirko Winkel take a critical look at this exemplary story of transformation. In this case, “learning from bathing” also means learning from bathing. The place and its baths are currently undergoing a radical transformation process with far-reaching consequences that need to be carefully considered. With artistic means, the place itself is prescribed a cure and its history is located within a larger social debate.
